BookExpo 2018 Recap

Thursday, June 07, 2018

I had such a blast last week as last week was one of the biggest bookish events of the year. BookExpo, once titled BEA (BookExpo of America), takes place in the Javits Convention Center in New York City every year around the last week of May. For the entire week, the city comes alive with bookish events, mostly free: signings, meet and greets, and more.

I haven’t been to the event in two years but I’ve been saving up some money and decided to treat myself with a week-long trip to the city. I am so incredibly grateful that I was able to participate in BookExpo and can not wait to see what next year will bring. Without further ado, here’s my recap of the fun-filled week:

Bloomsbury Tour

I started the wonderful week off on Tuesday with a small tour of the Bloomsbury Publishing offices. This event was held by Blogbound, which I attended later on that evening. All the people I met at this event were absolutely lovely. The tour was small, about 15 people. It was amazing to get the chance to see the inside of a publishing house. The floor was an open floor concept office space while the walls were lined with bookshelves. It was magnificent. There was even a small shrine of books by Sarah J. Maas in the middle of the aisle in celebration of her recent release, A Court of Frost and Starlight. The whole place felt like home.

The YA publicists met us in a conference room and introduced us to several releases coming out soon. Definitely check these books out:

Imprison the Sky by A.C. Gaughen (1/22/19) | The Girl King by Mimi Yu (1/8/19) | The Brink of Darkness by Jeff Giles (7/10/18)

Blogbound

Later that evening, I attended Blogbound which is put on by other book bloggers. I’ve never been before and it was a lovely event. There were several panels to choose from, from getting over slumps to how bloggers got their start. It was thought provoking and a great way to meet other fellow bloggers. At the end of the panels, they had four authors participate in a sort of author speed dating event where they would each sit at a table and bloggers got to ask them anything they wanted about their new books. That was one of the best times of the event as I got to hear more about books I haven’t heard about. Also, after that, there was a book and swag table that everyone could take a look at. I was able to get a lovely poster of Meet Cute which is an anthology I am excited to read soon. I, also, received some amazing books:

When Life Gives You Demons by Jennifer Honeybourn (7/17/18) | The Impossibility of Us by Katy Upperman (7/31/18) | Sadie by Courtney Summers (9/4/18)

BookExpo Day 1

BookExpo is hard to describe because each day really feels like a blur of meeting people, waiting in lines, and chatting with authors. My favorite part of the first day has got to be the time I got to meet Anna Godbersen for the first time. I am such a fun of The Luxe series and her Bright Young Things series so meeting her was a huge highlight of the whole convention. I got to tell her how she truly made me the reader I am today. It was so fantastic! I, also, was able to snag her new book among a few others:

A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan (8/14/18) | When We Caught Fire by Anna Godbersen (10/2/18) | Odd One Out by Nic Stone (10/9/18) | Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan (11/6/18)

BookExpo Day 2

The first day of the convention seemed to be much busier than the second. However, despite the second day’s slow pace, I still had a blast networking with publishers and talking with authors. The big highlight of day 2 has got to be meeting A.C. Gaughen, author of Reign the Earth which is my favorite book of this year so far. Besides being able to receive an early copy of Imprison the Sky (which doesn’t release until January of next year), I was able to get so many amazing books this day too:

Black Wings Beating by Alex London (9/25/18) | Unclaimed Baggage by Jen Doll (9/18/18) | Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram (8/28/18) | Mirage by Somaiya Daud (8/28/18)

Overall, I had such a great time! I am so grateful that I get to attend such an amazing conference! BookExpo and all the other events that took place last week was truly magical. I can’t wait to read all the books I received, as well as add several more to my never-ending tbr pile.

Did you attend BookExpo? How did you like it? Which upcoming book are you most excited for this fall?

BEA Countdown: Top 5 Books I'm Most Excited For

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

BEA Countdown has begun and it starts off with the top five books I’m most excited for at BEA.

After the End by Amy Plum
She’s searching for answers to her past. They’re hunting her to save their future.
World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They've survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.
At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.
When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.
Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she's trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past. --Goodreads
I love Amy Plum’s books.  Her writing style always keeps readers on their toes.

Made For You by Melissa Marr
Bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely books Melissa Marr’s first contemporary YA novel is a twisted southern gothic tale of obsession, romance, and murder. A killer is obsessed with Eva Tilling. Can she stop him, or will he claim her?
When Eva Tilling wakes up in the hospital, she’s confused—who in her sleepy little North Carolina town could have hit her with their car? And why? But before she can consider the question, she finds that she’s awoken with a strange new skill: the ability to foresee people’s deaths when they touch her. While she is recovering from the hit-and-run, Nate, an old flame, reappears, and the two must traverse their rocky past as they figure out how to use Eva’s power to keep her friends—and themselves—alive. But while Eva and Nate grow closer, the killer grows increasingly frantic in his attempt to get to Eva.
For the first time, New York Times bestselling author Melissa Marr has applied her extraordinary talent to contemporary realism. Chilling twists, unrequited obsession, and high-stakes romance drive this Gothic, racy thriller—a story of small-town oppression and salvation. Melissa’s fans, and every YA reader, will find its wild ride enthralling.--Goodreads
Can I just say that this book may be made for me.  Melissa Marr is one of my favorite authors.  It is going to be awesome to see her in person.

Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle
The romantic story of a girl who gets plucked from obscurity to star in the next major feature film franchise based on a book and the ensuing love triangles she gets entangled in on—-and off screen.
Meet Paige Townsen, Rainer Devon, and Jordan Wilder…
When Paige Townsen, a young unknown, gets cast in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a crowded movie set on the shores of Maui, and is spending quality time with her co-star Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life gets even crazier.
In this coming-of-age romance inspired by the kind of celeb hookups that get clever nicknames and a million page views, Paige must figure out who she is – and who she wants – while the whole world watches.--Goodreads
This book sounds interesting.  I haven’t read any of Serle’s books but I’m sure I’m going to love this one.

Blood of my Blood by Barry Lyga
Jazz Dent has been shot and left to die in New York City. His girlfriend Connie is in the clutches of Jazz's serial killer father, Billy. And his best friend Howie is bleeding to death on the floor of Jazz's own home in tiny Lobo's Nod. Somehow, these three must rise above the horrors their lives have become and find a way to come together in pursuit of Billy. But then Jazz crosses a line he's never crossed before, and soon the entire country is wondering: "Like father, like son?" Who is the true monster? The chase is on, and beyond Billy there lurks something much, much worse. Prepare to meet...the Crow King.--Goodreads
I know I said that Melissa Marr is one of my favorite authors but if we are putting them in a list (which will be tomorrow’s list), Lyga is right along beside Marr.  I Hunt Killers was a fantastic book and I look forward to the rest of the series.

Blackbird by Anna Carey
This twisty, breathless cat-and-mouse thrill ride, told in the second person, follows a girl with amnesia in present-day Los Angeles who is being pursued by mysterious and terrifying assailants.
A girl wakes up on the train tracks, a subway car barreling down on her. With only minutes to react, she hunches down and the train speeds over her. She doesn’t remember her name, where she is, or how she got there. She has a tattoo on the inside of her right wrist of a blackbird inside a box, letters and numbers printed just below: FNV02198. There is only one thing she knows for sure: people are trying to kill her.
On the run for her life, she tries to untangle who she is and what happened to the girl she used to be. Nothing and no one are what they appear to be. But the truth is more disturbing than she ever imagined.
The Maze Runner series meets Code Name Verity, Blackbird is relentless and action-packed, filled with surprising twists.--Goodreads

Have you read what this one is about?  I’m so excited for this one.  I always have such a hard time picking what book to read right after BEA but this may be the one.

Can't wait for BEA!  Are you going?

It's Officially Summertime! (Giveaway)

Monday, May 19, 2014

It’s officially summertime!  Do you know what that means?  That means plenty of things.  Nice weather.  No classes.  Plenty of reading time.  Time on the beach- which would be awesome if I really had a beach to go to but since there’s nothing for miles, we’ll have to make due to my back yard.  There are some downsides to summertime like summer jobs and daily chores but let’s focus on the good stuff.  Because, hey, my semester is over.  Summer is beginning and I want to start it off with a bang!

It’s pretty obvious that I haven’t been keeping up with my site as much as I’d like to.  If you visit often, which I hope you do, and noticed: I am sorry.  I’m now a senior in college and have lots of things going on.  Truthfully, I haven’t written a book review in months now.  I haven’t read a recreational book since winter break.  It’s been too long.  I’m back (for the summer, at least)!

To give the summer a warm welcome, because I am so happy it’s finally here: I wanted to give a bunch a books away!  For those of you with beaches you go to (I’m so jealous if a beach is in your backyard), this giveaway is meant to be enough books that will fill your beach bag to the top.  The deadline is not until June 30, and since now and then, I will be adding to the list of books I’m giving away.  (Since I’m attending Book Expo of America this year, there may even be some signed copies from that event also thrown in as prizes.)

Due to the quantity of books, there will be multiple winners.  First place and second place winners will be able to choose two or three books from the list.  Make sure you enter because this is a giveaway you don’t want to miss out on.

Here’s a list of books you can win:
Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan (ARC)
In a Glass Grimmly by Adam Gidwitz (ARC)
The Returned by Jason Mott (ARC)
The Books of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau (Paperback)
Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein (ARC)
Body and Blood by Amanda Havard (ARC)
Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles (ARC: two copies)
Eternally Yours by Cate Tiernan (ARC)
The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert (ARC)

Love Me Again?

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

I think John Newman has the right idea.

Do you, wonderful readers, have it in you to forgive me and "love me again?"  I've been gone for way too long.  I know.  But I'm back.  I'm back for right now.  I'll start posting, sporadically at first but still posting and hopefully continue through the summer.  Can we throw parties again?

Sadly, I will not be hosting a book discussion this year.  The reason I've been so busy is because I am working on trying to get together a plan to study abroad in South Korea next fall.  Some of my professors encouraged me to start my own website about my thoughts on the experience, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to try out Wordpress.  Check out my Study Abroad blog.

Instead of boring you with more excuses as to why I haven't been posting, all I can say is definitely stay tuned for a wonderful book review tomorrow.  An update on what's coming up: I will be attending BEA this year so if you're going, let's meet up.  I love meeting new people and I always love sharing experiences at BEA.

My goal (since I totally missed my New Year's party on The Bucket List this year) is to post a review every week.  Starting now.  Ready. Set...

In My Mailbox (BEA 2013 Edition)

Thursday, June 13, 2013

I know it's been a while but I wanted to tell you about my time at BEA.  I've been busy these past two weeks; after BEA, I got the opportunity to attend ColossalCon, which is an anime convention.  I'll be telling you all about my first anime convention, sometime next week but let's talk books.

Wednesday:

It was the Book Bloggers Con and it was so much fun!  I met two awesome people, Penelope from The Reading Fever and Sierra from Dear, Restless Reader.  Seriously, go check out their sites because they are fantastic!  We listened to a bunch of panels about book blogging and it was interesting to hear about where the publishing industry is going and how blogging is going to be a part of it.

Favorite Part of the Day:
I got to meet Mari Mancusi, author of Boys that Bite and her soon-to-be-released Scorched.  I've loved her books for years and it was such a dream come true to meet her.  She was lovely and I was even lucky enough to get some of my books signed by her.

Thursday:
It was the first official day of BEA and, this time around, I felt like I was ready.  I had gone last year and was so confused about how everything was going to work.  No matter how many things I read up on BEA, I felt I was never truly ready to attend.  This year, I knew what to expect and it was much less scary.  Also, unlike last year, I networked with a lot more people.  I got to meet people from different booths and handed my card out to anyone who was interested.  It was fantastic!

Favorite Part of the Day:
Ever since I've read Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, I've wanted to read more from her.  I was able to get a copy of The Signature of All Things, which I can't wait to dive into.

Friday:

Favorite Part of the Day:
I haven't read Code Name Verity yet but knowing that the companion novel is full of buzz right now, I can't wait to see what's in store for me.  I was able to get a copy of Rose Under Fire!

Saturday:
My mother joined me as a Power Reader and we braved the show floor together, while everyone scrambled around on the last day.  Since she had a blast at BEA, I am thinking of having her join me on The Bucket List.  What do you think, do you want another reviewer on The Bucket List?

Favorite Part of the Day:
Since this was a slow day, I was able to go back to the booths and talk with them about my website and the industry.  It was sad for BEA to end but there is always next year.

Now the part where I list the books I got:
Sorry that I don't have a video of my books this year.  My camera died shortly after my anime convention, and I haven't had time to hunt down someone else's.  Also, I'm missing my list of books that I received on Saturday but here's what I got the rest of the BEA week:

Final Thoughts on Divergent and BEA

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Final Thoughts on Divergent

Well, now I want to know what happens next, of course! I need more than a measly promo for the next book, I NEED TO READ IT! But whatever Roth (sticks tounge out). I’m so glad Tris and Tobias made it through because I would have died if one had to end up killing the other. By the way, I knew Tobias was going to pull the corny, “I love you” line to Tris because every single other book like that has this happen when the love interest survives. So, to that I say, enjoy this:
Overall, I love this book and it is definitely on my list of favorites with The Sparrowby Mary Russell being my number one. By the way, if you do read The Sparrow, make sure that you have a VERY OPEN MIND if you consider reading it. Please. Anyway, I think this was so much better than the Hunger Games, although the first two books in that series were pretty good. So, no I must go read Insurgent since we finished the book discussion!

Thanks Gina for recommending this book to me, and I had a lot of fun with the discussion! Thanks to those who kept up with the book discussion, I hope you enjoyed, and I hope you also enjoyed your reading of Divergent. I hope you read it, if you didn’t, please go borrow it from someone or buy it, it is DEFINITELY WORTH IT. Anyway, hope you enjoyed, and now I exit stage left!

You can read my full review on Divergent by Veronica Roth HERE.  I loved reading Divergent with all of you and hope we can read another book together soon!

Once again this post should have been written a bit earlier but, using the same excuse as I did last year, finals week and other college events kept me from letting all of you know.  I am attending BEA, Book Expo of America, again this year.  This will be my second time and I am super excited this year!

Gina’s Top 5 Exciting Things to Do during BEA Week:

At BEA:
Meet Richelle Mead

Richelle Mead is one of my favorite YA authors of all time.  She made me love the supernatural/vampire genre way more than Twilight ever did.  Mead might have also created one of the best YA boys in all of YA.  I cannot wait to see what she is like, in person.  She is going to be so awesome!  She is signing 2-3PM on May 31 at Table 18.

Network with Publishers

Not only am I a book blogger but I’m also an aspiring publisher, something I must have forgotten last year in the excitement of BEA.  Actually, I am going to college, in hopes of becoming a book publishing.  Last year, I didn’t make a huge effort to network.  Sure, I networked with loads of bloggers and met publishers at Egmont USA and Macmillan but this year, I plan on going on a networking trip.  Maybe some of the publishers can even tell me some advice about being in the business, one can only ask to find out, right?

During the Week:
Teen Author Carnival

Teen Author Carnival was a blast last year.  Last year, I showed up late to the event but I still was able to hear some of the best panels of the week.  This year’s lineup does not look as exciting as last year’s but I’m still looking forward to meeting Elizabeth Scott and David Levithan!  The Teen Author Carnival takes place at the Jefferson Market Library at 6:30-9PM on May 29.

Visit Book Off

This year, I actually made a list of places I want to visit and so many people have recommended I check out a store called Book Off.  It’s a bookstore that has incredible prices of books and a large section of manga and CDs as well.  Since this year in college, I was introduced to some awesome manga, I definitely want to check this place out.

Walk around Central Park

Even though, last year, I lived relatively close to the park, I wasn’t able to walk through it like I had wanted.  This year, I am making a plan to walk around Central Park.  It’s definitely happening this year.

If you are going to BEA and want to meet and hang out, leave a comment below.  If this is your first time going, send me an email with questions and I’ll be sure to answer any you have.  If you’re a pro at anything BEA, let us know any tips you can think of, in the comments.

I’m BEA Bound, are you?

Book Trailers: Do They Work?

Sunday, August 12, 2012

I'm not one to buy a book after seeing a book trailer.  But that's what book trailers are made for.  Book trailers are created to grab reader's attention, make them get interested for the upcoming release, and buy the book when it comes out.  Book trailers don't work on me unless they are incredibly well done like the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls trailer.  Do they work on you?  Are you going to watch a book trailer and then go out and buy the book that the trailer promoted?

I found a book trailer that came out recently that I wanted to give a closer look.

Origin by Jessica Khoury
Pia has grown up in a secret laboratory hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest. She was raised by a team of scientists who have created her to be the start of a new immortal race. But on the night of her seventeenth birthday, Pia discovers a hole in the electric fence that surrounds her sterile home—and sneaks outside the compound for the first time in her life.
Free in the jungle, Pia meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village. Together, they embark on a race against time to discover the truth about Pia’s origin—a truth with deadly consequences that will change their lives forever.
Origin is a beautifully told, shocking new way to look at an age-old desire: to live forever, no matter the cost. This is a supremely compelling debut novel that blends the awakening romance of Matched with the mystery and jungle conspiracy of Lost. --Goodreads
This book sounds fantastic: the book itself makes me want to go out and buy it, even though the release date is not until September 4.  The book trailer: not so much.  The beginning starts out okay, with the occasional shot of a fake studio forest that looks too green, and a waking-up girl that looks like she was faking sleep the entire time.  It has some nice shot at the pool, liking the symmetry there but since I haven't read the book and the trailer is not telling me, I have no clue why we are brought in the forest and then at some pool (the only clue I got was from the summary.  Well, then it only gets CHEESY from here on out.  I snickered at the little black lines, a literal form of censorship, but I flat out laughed at this Tarzan-like character.  Queue the running and jumping in each other's arms music, really this was too much.

Does this trailer make you want to buy the book?  If I had just seen the trailer, I would have never even looked for the books in stores.  What do you think of this trailer?

In My Mailbox (BEA 2012 Edition)

Sunday, June 17, 2012

I know a few must be wondering about my time at BEA.  Let me just tell you it was a blast!

Monday:
That was the day of the Book Blogger Convention and I didn’t know what to expect.  First time I ever went to the Javits Center, which is amazingly huge!  I met up with a lot of people that first day, Jenna (Coffee, Books, and Me), Steph (The Fake Steph), and Kate (Midnight BookGirl).  We waited in line for a bit and got this awesome swag bag filled with books (a list of all the books I got at BEA are down below).  We had breakfast and lunch with amazing authors and then got to listen to some speakers.  Jennifer Weiner was hilarious.  Some of the panels that I went to in the afternoon were interesting too.  I think I learned a few new things about the publishing world.

Favorite Book of the day: Darker Still by Leanna Renee Heiber
Favorite Part of the day: Having breakfast and lunch with some awesome authors, including Ally Condie (Matched), Suzanne Lazaar (Innocent Darkness), Leanna Renee Heiber (Darker Still), and Zoraida Cordova (The Vicious Deep).

Tuesday:
It was the first official day of BEA.  It was my first time so I still didn’t know what to expect except to be tired beyond belief by the end of the day.  I already had six blisters on each foot because I got lost on Monday and had to walk at least 30 blocks to the place I was staying.  However, on the floor, it wasn’t so bad because most of the ground was carpeted.  I went to all my favorite booths.  My most favorite booth was Macmillan because they were just so awesome to me.  I got to meet Megan, an awesome blogger at Between the Lines and while waiting in line for Melissa Marr’s Carnival of Souls, I met my two favorite bloggers in the blogosphere: Danny from BewitchedBookworms and Donna from Bites.  They were both extremely nice and amazing!  After I left the Javits Center, I quickly dropped off all the books I got that day and tried to find the Jefferson Market Library to attend the Teen Author Carnival.  I was half an hour late because I had mistaken the building for a church and walked right past it.  TAC was awesome and I loved listening to all the panels.  I got to meet two of my most fav authors, Michelle Hodkin and Barry Lyga.  Michelle Hodkin was so sweet and even gave me a teaser of The Evolution of Mara Dyer in my copy of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer because she spelled my name wrong.  I had so much fun!
Favorite Book of the day: Eve and Adam by Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant
Favorite Part of the day: At the Teen Author Carnival, I met my all-time favorite author, Barry Lyga, and got Boy Toy signed!

Wednesday:
That day was much the same as the first.  I attending the Children’s Breakfast and I was so glad I did.  I didn’t get the best seats in the world, but it was enough to get to see John Green and Chris Colfer.  I got to meet awesome people in line waiting for books.  There was a lot of waiting in line but it seemed to me that BEA was like a theme park for books and I really enjoyed it.  People I got to meet: Jennifer from Crazy for Books and Keri from Quill Café.  Jennifer was fantastic and Keri was great, she even has a mascot for her site which is the cutest.  By the time I got back where I was staying, I was so tired that I missed the Books of Wonder signing I was going to go to.  Maybe next time.

Favorite Book of the Day: The Diviners by Libba Bray
Favorite Part of the Day: I got to meet Veronica Roth and just having finished Divergent a few weeks ago, I gushed about how much I loved Four.  She was just so nice and inscribed, “Be strong!” in my copy of Insurgent (which I just finished, so awesome! Review to come.).

Thursday:
Last day of BEA and it was sad but still as awesome.  I had a huge schedule and knowing by other people telling me that Thursday was a slow day, I was hoping they were right.  It was slower than most and waiting to be let onto the floor, I met Darla from DforDarla’s Definite Reads.  She was great!  I got an awesome shirt from Sourcebooks that says, “Authors are my Rockstars!”  But then my schedule sort of fell apart and I began wondering.  I knew I needed to get in line for Breath by Sarah Crossan and there I met the two first bloggers I ever followed and inspired me to create my own blog: Natascha (Bloody Bookaholic) and Briana (TheBook Pixie), we played UNO in line and I had loads of fun hanging out with them.  After that, I found Jenna again (from the first day) and we went to booth to booth looking around and handing out cards.  I got some awesome books that day and now I am super excited to start reading them all!

Favorite Book of the Day: Embrace by Jessica Shrivington
Favorite Part of the Day:  I was less than three feet away from John Green, being short I just got to see his puff level, but it was still awesome.  I’m used to seeing John Green in a small Youtube video on my computer so to see him in real life was pretty amazing, being a nerdfighter.

2012 BEA Bound

Sunday, May 20, 2012

This post probably should have been written earlier.  However, due to college papers and finals week, I did not get to it until now.  BEA is less than a month away and I will be going!

Side note: Finals week is over and summer break is now a go!  (Yes, you can probably tell that I just spent the last three hours watching a spy movie!)

Okay, that being said, I want to let you all know that I will be attending BEA.  For those of you who do not know what BEA is, check out their website HERE.  BEA, this year, is a conference held at the Javits Center in New York City.  This event is being held from June 5th to June 7th, however I will be there the whole week.  That's right, this small-town, farm girl is going to the city for a week!  I am super excited and super nervous and if you are going, make sure you contact me so we can hang out.  You can find my email HERE. I will also be spending time with my awesome blogging friend, Jenna, from Coffee, Books, and Me.  Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!

Oh and guess what?  I am still a bit star struck about all the huge names that are going to be at BEA.  I am actually attending the BEA book breakfast with best-selling author, John Green, and actor and soon-to-be debut author, Chris Colfer.  That are only two names that I can barely breathe when I think about being in the same room with them.  Not to mention, BEA has some awesome author signing goings-on including my personal-favorites, Melissa Marr, Libba Bray, Ellen Hopkins, Becca Fitzpatrick, and Leah Clifford to name a few.  I have never been to an author signing and to be in the same room as these awesome people is going to be... well, awesome!  I am very worried that I will go all fan-girl on them, but I will try my best.

This will be my first time going ever and I have heard from lots of people that it is a blast.  A huge component that everyone suggested was to have some business cards on hand to give out to people at the conference.  So I just wanted to show off the final product to you, guys.  How do you like them?

If you are going to BEA, I hope to see you there!  For anyone who has been there before, do you have any tips for me and other people who may be going for their first time?

I hope to see you all there!  Can't wait for BEA!

BookExpo America: Registration Open

Saturday, January 21, 2012

I’m going, are you?

I just spent the last two hours registering for BEA, one of the largest publishing conferences in America, and I have finally succeeded.  It only took that long because I had no clue what I was doing.  I am sure it will not take that long next time.

I’ve never attended BEA before and I am definitely overwhelmed at how many things there are to do.  Not only is BEA going on, but I also heard there are going to be some epic author events around the city.  During BEA week, I will be going to BBC, the Book Blogger Convention.  I have been told that BBC is an event that every blogger should attend and that a lot of people love it so I’d thought to check it out.  I am from New York, but not the city and this will be my first time going it alone.  There is a first time for everything, I suppose.

I’ll be posting more about the conference, closer to June, but stay tuned to any changes in the schedule.

It is all very exciting and I just wanted to spread the word that registration was open so all of you could go as well.  BEA is being held in the week of June 3.  I cannot wait until then.

Are you going to be there?  If you are planning on attending, we could meet up if you’d like.  If you are looking for a BEA buddy, comment below and I’ll get back to you.

I want to hear about your experiences at BEA.  What was your favorite thing about BEA?
